Sometimes a crisis in our lives can lead to growth and the discovery of new, fruitful paths to follow. This has certainly been the case for Jillian, whose career serving people suffering from various traumas emerged from her personal experience.
After graduating from UW-RIver Falls, Tom's has worked in the engineering and manufacturing of medical devices. Tom and his family live in Wabasha and he now oversees over 800 employees at the Phillips-Medisize campus in Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Mr. Smith taught religion at Cotter for 24 years. In that time he helped foster the academic and faith lives of countless students and colleagues. His wife Peggy was a pre-school teacher at St. Mary's for over 10 years and his children Ben (Class of '99), Bridget ('04), and Stephanie ('08) all graduated from Cotter.

Hiawatha Education Foundation Scholarship
The Hiawatha Education Foundation (HEF) was established in 1987 by founders of the Fastenal Company. One of HEF’s funds provides scholarships to all graduates of Cotter High School, Winona, Minnesota.
The HEF Post-Secondary Scholarships were created to allow and encourage Cotter students to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities before they go on to college. The HEF Scholarships are a gift and a privilege available only to Cotter students.
