Cotter Schools has announced the winners of the 2020-2021 AAA award: Ian Modjeski and Aubrey Williams.
Triple-A (AAA) stands for Academics, Arts, and Athletics. This award was established to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts. Included in the arts category are: performing arts (band, choir, and orchestra), visual arts and activities (speech, debate, robotics, and one-act plays). In recognizing these students, AAA also elevates high academic standards and creates a greater awareness of Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) sponsored activities and their values.
At Cotter, a qualified candidate must have a cumulative GPA over 3.5 and participate in athletics and the fine arts. Both Aubrey and Ian have excelled in their academics, taking many advanced level courses. Additionally, they both have competed at the state level in athletics.
At Cotter, Ian has participated in soccer, cross country, and football while focusing on tennis as his main sport. He also was involved in choir. His parents are Fran and Amy Modjeski. Aubrey has participated in basketball, cross country, Nordic skiing, and track. She has also been highly involved and successful in speech and band. Aubrey's parents are Tom and Linda Williams.
Ian and Aubrey now advance to the sub-region where another committee will choose a male and female to advance on to the Regional Committee and hopefully the state level.
