The Cotter marching band took a week long trip to the east coast during the week of the 4th of July, 2019. The band kickoff the trip by visiting Niagara Falls on July 3rd. The day included a boat tour on the famous Maiden of the Mist. Then they marched in a 4th of July parade in Bristol, RI and afterwards enjoyed an Independence Day celebration at India Point Park in Providence, RI which included live bands,kid-friendly activities, and fireworks.
On July 5th, they departed for Boston. The group took a Freedom Trail walking tour and visited Harvard University. They spent some free time downtown and in the Quincy Market. The next morning, July 6th, the band departed for Plymouth, MA to visit the Plymouth Rock. After some free time exploring Plymouth the band headed to Hyannis, MA for a whale watching tour. They were able to watch a mama whale and her calf breach and swim!
On July 7th, the band woke and attended church at Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Seekonk, MA. The day, the band split in two groups. One group visited the Franklin Park Zoo while other visited the home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park. Later that evening, they went to Salem, MA and took the a Black Cat tour of Salem that dives into the stories of the historically haunted city.
The band departed on July 8th for the 21 hour bus ride home. They returned to Winona on July 9th safe and sound with a bunch of memories and experiences they will never forget!
