“On the Road Again…”
Cotter’s Director of International & Alumni Advancement, Erik Christenson, will kick off his fall recruiting season this September. Coming off a successful recruitment tour last year, which saw Cotter experience its largest recruiting class in three years, Erik is very excited to get back onto an airplane. Seriously!
While discussing the recruitment efforts from last year Christenson said, “Last year, Cotter actively recruited in 8 different countries, 29 different cities, and on 3 continents. We really committed to reengaging markets where we had previous success while also focusing on increasing student diversity within the program.”
These efforts resulted in bringing in students from over 15 countries. In addition to the international students, Cotter also welcome domestic boarding students from four different states.
Erik attributes the success to the tremendous team effort of those involved in international recruiting and admissions. “Everyone at the dorm works hard to make the place feel like home. The faculty and staff are so supportive. They are very encouraging and lift me up when I’m feeling the jetlag! Sr. Judy has just been so great. She’s been incredibly supportive and open to new ideas. Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a special shout out to Mrs. Marie Barrientos! She does just a spectacular job with interviewing and developing relationships with these kids. We’ve really developed into a strong team.”
This fall, Erik will begin his recruitment efforts in Europe. He leaves September 9th for the Czech Republic. While there he will visit students in Prague and Brno. He will then travel to Istanbul, Turkey. After making Cotter’s first ever recruiting trip to Turkey, he will travel to Belgrade, Serbia before going to Zagreb, Croatia. Erik’s passport will get stamped in Milan, Italy before he completes his recruitment efforts this leg in Madrid, Spain on September 22nd.
Erik will be back at Cotter to help celebrate Cotter’s Homecoming the week of September 23rd before flying out to Brazil on the 30th. He encourages you to stop by the alumni tent prior to the game!
After homecoming, Erik will represent Cotter in South America for the first time in several years. “I’m very excited to go to Rio de Janeiro to meet with Education Agents from all over Mexico, South America and Latin America. It will really provide Cotter an excellent platform to present our Vision 2020 plan to a vast and growing market.” said Christenson.
In early November, Erik will return to Europe with a trip to Berlin, Germany where he will attend the largest gathering of Educational Agents and Boarding Schools in the world. While there, Erik, will have the opportunity to showcase Cotter Schools to over 1700 agencies from 111 countries!
Capping off a very eventful fall will be a Thanksgiving Day trip to Vietnam and China. Departing on November 27th, Erik will embark on a 13-day tour visiting students and agents in 11 different cities throughout Vietnam and China. Some cities of note are Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou. Erik will be returning to Cotter on December 9th.
