The Rambler softball team is headed back to the state tournament for the first time since 2009. This is section championship is #12 for Coach Bowlin.
After beating Rochester Lourdes on Tuesday 3-2 the Ramblers rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Eagles 4-3 in the section championship game on Thursday.
The Ramblers quickly found themselves in a 3 run hole after the first inning, however, their offence responded with 3 runs in the bottom in the inning. Isabel Northrop, Ali French, and Ellie Macal drove in Britney Meier, Josie Huelskamp, and Ali, respectively, for the 3 runs.
In the second inning it was Josie's speed that gave the Ramblers the only lead they would need. Coach Bowlin gave Josie the steal sign and as she took off as Isabel drilled a pitch up the middle. Josie scored all the way from first.
With the lead, Isabel and the Rambler defense shut the Eagles down. Isabel finished with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks. She pitched 6 shutout innings after that 3 run first inning. Her defense was on fire too. Catcher, Britney Meier, picked off a would-be baserunner at 1st in the 2nd inning and then dove for a popped up bunt for an out in the 3rd. Finally, after a walk in the top of the 7th inning, the Rambler defense recorded a pair of outs to seal the deal.
The Ramblers head to Caswell Park in Mankato on June 7th-8th for the state tournament. Good luck, ladies!!!
