Cotter Schools’ introduced a “Culture of Positivity” theme this school year that highlights positive characteristics each month throughout the year. For the month of February, we lift up a love of learning and being self-reliant. Congratulations to Spencer Briggs, Morgan Arnold, and Abbey Allen who were selected for displaying these characteristics!
Cotter Junior High School 8th grade student, Spencer Briggs, who is a Co-Rambler of the Month for February. Spencer is the son of Jon and Carmen Briggs and has one sibling, Abagail.
Spencer is involved in choir, and would consider joining the math team and art club in the future. His favorite classes at CJHS are art and physical education. He could not choose one teacher as his favorite and he likes them all. Outside of school, he likes to work on homework, listen to music and draw cartoons.
Spencer said he “absolutely loves Cotter,” and it is one of his "most favorite places in the world!" He said he has nice classmates and he has many friends at Cotter.
Teachers nominated Spencer because he loves learning and is doing an awesome job putting forth his best effort. Teachers said that he “is displaying great creativity in his assignments, works independently, and genuinely cares about others' feelings.”
Cotter High School 10th grade student, Morgan Arnold, is a Co-Rambler of the Month for February. She is the daughter of Chris and Stacy Arnold, and has three siblings, Alexandra ‘16, Andrew ‘17, and Madelyn ‘19. She also has two dogs, Annabelle and Buddy.
At Cotter, Morgan loves to be involved and it shows. She has been involved in cross country, Nordic skiing, track, volleyball, swimming, basketball, Parmies (knitting for service projects), math team, International Science Fair, band, Student Council, Speech and was as a Misato ambassador as part of our exchange program. Misato is Winona’s sister city in Japan.
Morgan said that her fondest memory so far was competing at the State Cross Country meet and earning a spot in the Top 5 runners in the state. Her favorite subjects are science and math. She would like to study medicine upon graduation from Cotter. Outside of school, she likes to read and hang out with her friends.
Teachers nominated Morgan because she is extremely self-reliant, and when given a project or a problem she will figure out the best way to get it done.
Cotter High School 12th grade student, Abbey Allen, is a Co- Rambler of the Month for February. She is the daughter of David and Tracy Allen, and has one sibling, Aubrey ‘17.
At Cotter, Abbey has been involved in soccer, basketball, NHS, band, Cross Cultural Ministry Project, and yearbook club. Abbey shared that she has loved the small class sizes and engaged teachers at Cotter. She also thinks it is special that many of her best friends have been together since preschool. Her best advice to Cotter students is to “develop good study habits, get involved, and stay on top of things.”
After graduation, Abbey will attend Carroll University where she has been accepted into nursing school. She hopes to study pediatric oncology.
Teachers nominated Abbey because she is a true leader, a steady worker, and is always dependable. She has great ideas and always gets the job done!
