Cotter Schools’ introduced a “Culture of Positivity” theme this school year that highlights positive characteristics each month throughout the year. For the month of May, we lift up “going beyond.” Congratulations to Emma McRaith, Grace Menke, and Manya Kamara who were selected for displaying this characteristic!
Cotter Junior High 7th grade student, Emma McRaith, is a May Co-Rambler of the Month for May. Emma is the daughter of Barry and Kim McRaith, and has one sister, Ellie who is a senior at Cotter.
At Cotter, Emma is involved in band, choir, volleyball, basketball, softball, and Teen Press. Outside of school she serves in her church, enjoys going on the river, and relaxing with her friends and family. Emma lists her parents as her role models. Emma’s favorite class is English, and she especially enjoys having Ms. Alison Wagner as her teacher.
Emma was nominated by her teachers because she consistently goes above and beyond what is expected. She always meets or exceeds the set standards. Emma always engages others and is an active participant in class.
Cotter High School 9th grade student, Grace Menke, is May Co-Rambler of the Month for May. Grace is the daughter of Kevin and Jane Menke and has two siblings, Brian ’20 and Audrey.
At Cotter, Grace is involved in band, cross country, Nordic skiing, track and field, and speech.
Outside of school she enjoys volunteering at Winona Area Catholic Schools where her mom, Jane is a 4th grade teacher.
Grace’s favorite subject is math because it’s the same in every language! She likes all of her teachers and could not pick just one favorite. Grace said that she likes attending Cotter because “the teachers are very understanding and are there to help you at any moment.”
Teachers nominated Grace because she is smart, hardworking, helpful, and considerate.
Cotter High School 11th grade student, Manya Kamara, is Co-Rambler of the Month for May. She is the daughter of Amara Kamara and Connie Kamara. She has one brother, Abraham (A.B.) who is a freshman at Cotter.
At Cotter, Manya has been involved in marching band, track and field, volleyball, Students Promoting Awareness (SPA), Student Activity Leadership Team (SALT), and National Honor Society. Outside of Cotter, Manya skates for the Winona Figure Skating Club and works at Target. Her favorite teachers at Cotter so far have been Mrs. Elizabeth Stevenson and Ms. Emily Shriver.
Manya was nominated by her teachers because she is a kind and quiet leader. She enjoys being challenged, and is also known for gently challenging others to succeed. Manya is not afraid to go beyond in classroom learning.
