The Cotter High School Guidance and Counseling Department seeks to assist students in their development and preparation for life after Cotter Schools. We offer a comprehensive school counseling program to support our students and their needs. We provide emotional, academic, social and problem solving support. Along with the students, we involve parents, teachers and administrators in collaboration to support the specific needs of each student. We believe all students can succeed, and we work to support all students as they strive to reach their potential.
Members of the Academic Counseling Center follow each student's academic progress, develop a personalized learning plan for each student, help each student access and use their MCIS account, make sure students have the required courses for graduation, provide help with course selection, and provide assistance with college planning and application.
Members of the Personal Counseling Center work with students to address social and emotional challenges that may be preventing the students from reaching their potential. Counselors lead individual small group counseling sessions, give classroom presentations on critical issues, teach skills and strategies that help students navigate challenges, and serve as a resource for parents and teachers in supporting student development.
