Cotter Schools Launches Exciting "Believe and Read" Program for Early Literacy!
Cotter Schools is proud to be selected for the innovative "Believe and Read" program, in collaboration with Groves Literacy Partnerships and the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE). This cutting-edge literacy initiative is set to revolutionize early reading education at Cotter Schools.
What is "Believe and Read"?
"Believe and Read" is a transformative, three-year literacy program designed to ensure students become fluent readers. Starting with kindergarten through second grade and expanding to third grade in the second year, this program uses a “train the trainer” model. Expert coaches from Groves Literacy Partnerships will work closely with our teachers to deliver top-notch reading instruction.
How Does It Work?
Cotter teachers will integrate a daily 30-minute, phonics-based lesson into their regular curriculum. These structured lessons are designed to introduce letters and sounds systematically, ensuring that students master essential reading skills.
Second-grade teacher Missy Cichosz shares, “I'm excited to implement this program, which supports both struggling readers and high achievers. With the help of a literacy coach, we aim to make every student a proficient reader and writer.”
Comprehensive Support for Teachers
Teachers in the "Believe and Read" program will receive:
- Extensive coaching on the science of reading.
- Professional development sessions.
- Tools and assessments to monitor student progress.
- Weekly support and feedback from literacy coaches.

The Journey to "Believe and Read"

A Message from Our President

Instructional coaching is one of the key elements in "Believe and Read". Our teachers will get the chance to shift their perspectives and reach their goals for reading and instructing success.
