Quarantine Guidance for Families (rev. 11/30/21)
You will be contacted by email if your child is identified as an in-school or on campus close contact of someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Your child may also be named as a close contact if he/she lives in the same household with or was in close proximity to a person who tested positive for COVID-19. You will need to identify the appropriate pathway back from quarantine to in-person learning and activities for your child. The options include:
A. If your child is fully vaccinated (two weeks after the final vaccination in the series), your child will NOT need to quarantine. We must have a copy of your child's vaccination card on file. Testing is recommended 5-7 days after exposure even if the child does not have symptoms.
B. If your child is NOT fully vaccinated, a minimum 7-day quarantine is expected. In a household exposure, the positive case in the household must isolate from the other household members before the 7-day quarantine of close contacts may begin. Your child may return to in-person learning and activities on day 8 after the date of last exposure if symptom-free. Your child must be tested on day 5 or later after the last exposure and provide proof of a negative PCR test prior to returning to school.
C. If your child is NOT fully vaccinated and you choose to not have your child tested for COVID-19, a 10-day quarantine is expected. Your child may return to school on day 11 if symptom-free.
*Exception: In the K-12 indoor classroom setting, the close contact definition excludes students who were within 3-6 feet of an infected student (laboratory-confirmed) if both the infected student and the exposed student(s) correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time.
