St. Teresa Hall: Grades 7-8

We believe each student is unique, and we strive to provide a supportive learning environment for all students. Our 7th and 8th grade students have access to these supports: 

• Learning Center: 1 period per day to receive additional support. Students work on developing organizational skills, practicing foundational academic skills and work completion.
• 9-12 grade student tutors: A National Honor Society student can serve as a tutor once a week to help students with homework and reinforcing skills learned in class. Student schedules will be taken into account when arranging meetings. 
• Before or after school teacher support: 7-8 grade teachers are available 30 minutes before and after school most days to meet with individual students and reteach concepts students are struggling with. Students should reach out directly to the teachers to schedule these sessions. 
• Counseling: Students struggling with academic, social or emotional issues can schedule an appointment with our school counselor, Mitzi Storm. 
• The Bridge: Students interested in exploring and/or deepening their faith can participate in The Bridge, a fellowship group that meets once a week and is led by our Campus Ministry Director, Marisa Corcoran, who partners with staff from Radiant Light and college students from SMU. 

E.P.I.C. is an active group that focuses on movement: kickball, plyometrics, scavenger hunts, fitness center, running, leadership, being a good teammate, creative problem solving challenges, line tag, and staying active! Along with that, we focus on pushing ourselves to be our best selves in and out of the classroom through topics such as communication, the lenses everyone else may see the world through, creative problem solving, and giving each other a platform to be exactly who we are.  

E.P.I.C. Council

E.P.I.C. Council will focus on community building, positive experiences, kindness, and making memories along the way! While we may have some combined activities and events, we will have a 5/6 council and a 7/8 council. We will meet every other week and possibly more if there are big events coming up! Each council will have three focuses which you can see in the attached flyer: events, communication, and kindness. We all have different strengths...that is what makes a group like this an amazing opportunity to come together as a community to gain experience in brainstorming, learn new skills in planning/communicating/organizing, and working together towards a common goal of building community.   

From Halloween to sledding parties, bingo to trivia contests, food drives to valentine grams, locker decorations to newsletters...we are ready to roll this year with great energy, kids, and events!  

Important keys:

• You are willing and able to meet every other week during lunch.
• You are interested in finding ways to engage your classmates in activities.
• You are willing to share your thoughts and ideas while listening to others.

These are key!  This will be a safe place without judgment to feel welcomed and a time to understand that you matter and have a voice!
