    Going through the Fire
Gaelin Elmore spent over 10 years in the foster care system as a child.  During that time, Gaelin experienced physical, mental, and emotional abuse, neglect, and homelessness.  After moving to Wisconsin, Gaelin found success in high school athletics and received numerous school, conference and state accolades in football and basketball.  Gaelin was ranked the 4th best football player and the 19th best basketball player in the state of Wisconsin. He chose to play football at the University of Minnesota, where he was named Freshman All-Big Ten and two time Academic All-Big Ten.  He started over half the games he played in and received his degree in 3 years.  After graduating, Gaelin began working on his Masters in Technical and Professional Communication at East Carolina University, while playing his last year of collegiate eligibility. In the spring of 2018, he signed a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. Gaelin is now married to Cotter alum Micaela (Trainor), and they have a 7 month old daughter. Gaelin is a speaker who uses his story to motivate and encourage others to embrace the adversity in their own lives, leading to their personal success.
