Liturgy & Prayer

Rooted in our Catholic tradition, liturgy and prayer are foundational to life at Cotter Schools. We gather regularly for prayer and the Celebration of the Eucharist in order to deepen our relationship with God and strengthen our bonds as a community of faith.

All-School Masses

We gather as a whole school community, on average, once a month for the Celebration of the Eucharist. These celebrations are open to whole Cotter community. We love having parents and friends of the school join us for these celebrations. For the 2017-2018 school year our whole school Masses are as follows.

  • Thursday, August 31 - Back to School Mass
  • Thursday, October 12 - Homecoming Mass
  • Wednesday, November 1 - All Saints Day Mass
  • Friday, December 8 - Immaculate Conception Mass
  • Thursday,January 11 - Christmas Mass
  • Friday, February 2 - Catholic Schools Week Mass at St. Stan’s
  • Wednesday, February 14 - Ash Wednesday Mass
  • Thursday, April 5 - Easter Mass
  • Friday, May 18 - Celebration Day/Baccalaureate Mass

Friday Chapel Masses

Every Friday morning we start our day with the Celebration of the Eucharist in the Saint Joseph Chapel at 8:00am. This Mass is open to the entire community and different school groups (teams, clubs, fine arts groups) are given a special invitation to attend.

Thursday Morning Prayer

We begin each Thursday morning with a whole school assembly in the Chapel of the Angels where we spend time in prayer reflecting on the Word of God. This prayer is lead by Sr. Judy, other faculty and staff members or students.

Daily Prayer in the Skywalk

Everyday before first period students gather in the Skywalk to pray a decade of the Rosary for peace in our community and the world.

Reconciliation Services

Each semester we have whole school Reconciliation Service with the opportunity for individual confessions. We are blessed to have numerous priests from the Winona community join us to offer this healing sacrament. For the 2017/2018 school year the Reconciliation Service dates are:

  • Thursday, December 14 Advent Reconciliation Service
  • Thursday, March, 22 Lenten Reconciliation Service
