Do Your Best, Give Your Best

Do Your Best, Give Your Best

At Cotter Schools, we are embracing a new initiative to inspire students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 to shine their brightest and give their best each day, rooted in the virtues we value most. This Positive Behavior Plan is all about creating a culture where effort and kindness are celebrated and rewarded.

The journey began with an assembly kick-off on Tuesday, January 7, led by Mrs. Fellman and Mr. Quinn. Together, they’ve planned an exciting event where Mr. Bowlin will set the stage by introducing key expectations for the program.

Throughout the week, we’ll bring focus to the virtues and behaviors that reflect “Do Your Best, Give Your Best!” Morning announcements will set the tone, with guest staff announcers on Mondays defining the virtue of the week and sharing real-life examples. On other days, Mr. Bowlin will highlight moments of excellence from the “Blueout Board” and celebrate our progress as a community. To further spotlight these positive behaviors, our display TV will showcase pictures of students “caught in the act” of doing their best and giving their best, creating a visual celebration of their actions. At the heart of the initiative is the Blueout Board, located near the art gallery. Elementary Dean, Mrs. Fellman, shared “The board will feature blue and white post-it notes written by teachers and staff to recognize students for their exceptional efforts, acts of kindness, and perseverance. These notes, which will not include names but may mention grade levels or classrooms, will serve as a tangible reminder of the great things happening around us. Teachers will add their notes to the board throughout the day, creating an inspiring display of the virtues in action.”

Our goal is to collect 500 “Do Your Best, Give Your Best” post-it notes as a school. Once we achieve this milestone, everyone will celebrate with an exciting reward.

This plan not only encourages positive behavior but also builds a sense of community and pride among students and staff. By recognizing and celebrating efforts both big and small, we’re teaching students that their best truly matters. Together, let’s make this a year of virtues and victories.
