Cotter Students Advance to State in History Day Competition

Cotter Schools showcased their historical knowledge and research skills at the Southeast Regional History Day Competition held at Winona State University. An impressive 27 Cotter students will advance to the State History Day competition on April 27. At the high school level, seven students earned recognition for their outstanding projects:

  • Ella Ngu - Documentary on the My Lai Massacre
  • Hanna Hua - Website on the Pink Triangle
  • Gianna Teska - Exhibit on Herbert Hoover
  • Eirik Lin, Cooper Christopherson, Luke Schommer, and Gedion Errthum - Documentary on John Brown

At the junior high level, twenty students will represent Cotter at State:

  • Linnea Dienger - Exhibit on Betty Crocker
  • Caleb Watras - Exhibit on the Nuremberg Trials
  • Cici Cole - Exhibit on the Potato Famine
  • Olive Carlson and Eva Doherty - Exhibit on Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Alice Paul
  • Kaitlyn Bussian and Amelia Patzner - Exhibit on Hockey Helmets
  • Johan Willert and Ben Higl - Exhibit on the Navajo Code Talkers
  • Zayne Allen, Tyler Speltz, and Landon Ngugi - Exhibit on Elie Wiesel
  • Alex Wenzel, Thomas Peterson, Ryan Maschka, and Darius Klug - Exhibit on Jackie Robinson
  • Johnny Greshik - Documentary on the French Revolution
  • Joshua Stevenson - Documentary on Citizen Kane
  • Clara King - Website on Susan B. Anthony
  • Aubrey Ratz - Website on the Punk Rock Movement

The National History Day program encourages students to explore historical topics of their choice through extensive research and creative presentation. Cotter students demonstrated dedication and excellence in their projects, addressing significant moments and figures in history.

We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements. Their hard work and passion for learning about history are evident in the quality of their projects. We wish them the best of luck at the State competition.
