Speech Team Secures Fourth Place at State Competition

The Cotter Speech Team showcased their exceptional talent and dedication at the recent Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Speech Championships, earning an impressive fourth place overall among fierce competition from across the state.

With a remarkable performance, Cotter's team members demonstrated their prowess in various speech categories, securing multiple top placements in the final rounds. Among the notable achievements were:

• Savanna Loken's outstanding back-to-back victory as the MSHSL State Champion in Drama highlights her exceptional talent and dedication to the craft.

• River Repinski's remarkable second-place finish in the Humorous category showcases his comedic flair and delivery skills.

• Jase Vafaei's impressive third-place finish in the Discussion category reflects his ability to engage audiences and deliver compelling arguments.

• Roman Goodwin's commendable fourth-place finish in Prose demonstrates their skill in interpreting and performing literary works.

• Erica Beckman took fourth place in Original Oratory showcasing her ability to inspire and persuade with her words.

• Kayleigh Taylor took eighth place in Prose demonstrating her dedication and skill in interpreting and performing literary works.

Furthermore, Cotter’s Speech Team celebrated the inclusion of six of its members in the prestigious All-State Speech Team, a testament to their consistent excellence and contributions to the field of speech. The honored students include River Repinski, Roman Goodwin, Audrey England, Milana Shira, Jase Vafaei, and Savanna Loken.
