Cotter Schools Elementary Art Show
Cotter Schools is excited to announce the upcoming Elementary Art Show, featuring the creative works of students in grades K-6 at St. Luke Hall. The exhibition will be on display from April 8-25, 2025, in the Bell Art Room at the Winona Public Library.
This special showcase celebrates the artistic talents of young learners, highlighting a range of techniques including painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, and cardboard construction. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience both two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces, demonstrating the imagination and skill of Cotter’s elementary students.
Mrs. Jody Berhow, Cotter’s K-6 art teacher, reflects on the deeper value of teaching art, saying, "You're not just teaching your students how to draw, paint, or sculpt. During the process of making, questioning, and observing, young artists take a moment to realize the joy of the journey. To be curious, to notice all the limitless possibilities of self-expression that art offers are moments they will cherish for the rest of their lives!" This powerful quote emphasizes that teaching art is not solely about mastering techniques—it’s about guiding students to embrace creativity, foster curiosity, and experience the joy and freedom that art provides. These moments of self-expression become treasured memories that shape their futures.
A reception to celebrate the show will be held on April 8, 2025, from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., hosted by Mrs. Jody Berhow. This event is free and open to the public, offering a wonderful opportunity for the community to support and appreciate the students' artwork.
The Bell Art Room is located on the second floor of the Winona Public Library at 151 W 5th St. The exhibition will be accessible during the library’s regular hours.
Join us in celebrating the artistic achievements of Cotter’s young learners!
