Every year, the Winona Fire Department makes three visits to each 5th-grade classroom to teach fire safety. Part of their curriculum involves creating a fire safety poster. This year's theme was "Pay Attention to Fire Prevention." Winona's top three poster winners all came from Cotter Schools! Third place in the city and first place in Miss McRaith's room was Avery Engfer. Second place in the city and first place in Miss Lilja's room was Molly Schneider. Placing first in the city of Winona and first in Mrs. Nadeau's room was Jack Speltz. Jack's poster will now move on to the state contest. John Moore was first in Mrs. Schaefer's room. Each classroom also had a "Most Creative Poster" winner. These winners were Allie Donald, Emerson Chen, Keller Duden, and Avery Nadeau. Great job 5th graders!
