In celebration of Children’s Book Week (November 4-10), Cotter students at St. Luke Hall from Kindergarten through 6th grade participated in a “Design a Bookmark” challenge. Centered around the theme of reading and books, this creative initiative sparked excitement and showcased the students’ artistic talents.
Out of over 100 impressive submissions, eight students were selected to have their bookmark designs reproduced into actual bookmarks, which will be available for distribution at the St. Luke Hall Library after Thanksgiving. Students will be able to enjoy and take home these creative expressions, celebrating their peers' artistic interpretations of the joy of reading.
Children’s Book Week is a week-long event that celebrates books for young readers. This national program is celebrating its 105th anniversary in 2024. “What better way for young readers to celebrate what reading means to them than through creating bookmarks for their fellow students to use as they enjoy a good book?” said Mrs. S., St. Luke Hall Librarian. “Our students got behind this creative challenge in a big way. I look forward to holding this contest again in the future.”
